The five events

IFPA Certified · Fri – Sun

Main event

Included in the weekend package · $80 on its own

  • Best-game (herb) scoring on a bank of 13 machines, 4–5 from each era. Your best scores on 10 different machines count.
  • Top 24 in 'A' make the playoffs (top 8 get a bye) and get paid; top 8 in 'B' make the playoffs and get paid. Players in the IFPA top 400 are restricted to 'A' playoffs.
  • Playoffs: 3 games a round, 4-2-1-0 scoring, top 2 advance. 'A' winner gets a trophy and their name on the banner.
  • Extra entries (cash only): $10 for 4, $20 for 10, $50 for 28.
  • About 220% WPPR with the boost.
  • Capped at 84 players.

IFPA Certified · Fri – Sun

Match Play event

Included in the weekend package · $80 on its own

  • 10 rounds of 4-player groups, 2 games a round (one older machine, one newer), 7-5-3-1 scoring.
  • Top 24 make the 'A' playoffs and get paid; the next 4 eligible players make the 'B' playoffs and get paid. Players in the IFPA top 400 are restricted to 'A' playoffs.
  • Playoffs: 3 games a round, 4-2-1-0 scoring, top 2 advance. Winner gets a trophy and their name on the banner.
  • About 250% WPPR with the boost.
  • Capped at 76 players.

Friday night · Fri 6 – 9 PM

Classics event

Included in the weekend package · $50 on its own

  • Max Match Play, 18 matches, on EMs and early solid-states. Check in by 5:50 PM: late arrivals can't be added.
  • Top 11 play a ladder final on Saturday at 10 AM, and all 11 get paid. Winner gets a trophy and their name on the banner.
  • Capped at 76 players.

Saturday morning · Sat 10 AM – 1 PM

Women's event

$20, separate from the weekend package

  • 6 rounds of 4-player groups, 7-5-3-1 scoring, Swiss pairing.
  • Top 4 play a ladder final: an EM, then a solid-state, then a modern game. Top 4 get paid; the winner gets a trophy and their name on the banner.
  • Capped at 24 players.

Sunday afternoon · Sun 2 PM

3 Strikes event

$20, separate from the weekend package

  • Groups of 4 (or 3): the bottom 2 in a group of 4, or the last in a group of 3, take a strike. Three strikes and you're out. Swiss pairing, no playoffs.
  • Top 8 get paid.
  • Fully refunded if you'd rather play in the Main event playoffs. It counts for IFPA only if Main playoff players stay out of it.
  • Capped at 44 players.

How to register

The registration form opens Friday, October 2 at 6 PM ET and will be linked here. Weekend-package players get first pick.

Pay by Interac e-Transfer or PayPal (choose Friends & Family) to ontarioopenpinball@gmail.com. Cash is also accepted, and extra Main event entries are cash only.

The Women's and 3 Strikes events ($20 each) are paid on top of the weekend package.

Volunteer and play more

Scorekeepers are needed, in 1-hour shifts. One hour earns 4 free Main event entries. Two hours earn 10 entries, an extra raffle ballot, and a spot in Saturday's 9 – 10 AM volunteer-only session. Sign up to volunteer on the registration form when you register.
